ABOUT

HOW I BECAME A GENETIC GENEALOGIST

People are often surprised when i tell them what i do. It’s not the average job description! I can’t say i ever imagined i’d be doing this either. But here I am and I LOVE it! There is nothing more fulfilling than bringing families and loved ones together. It’s a basic human need to know where we come from and who we come from.

I’m a mother of 3 boys. Both my husband and oldest son are adopted from the same country. I belong to a large adoption community. One of the most prevalent things I hear from adoptees is that they want to know their roots. Who their birth parents are and why they look and act like they do. What were the circumstances surrounding their birth and adoption? There is a need to fill in all the blanks. Most people know the answers to those basic questions. But an adoptee is often left in the dark. In my experience, a lot of their adoption paperwork is wrought with lies or botched facts. Whether it’s intentional or not, it leaves adoptees believing a story that isn’t true or it’s too vague and leaves them with more questions.

I felt compelled to help people find their stories, their families, their roots, whether good or bad. It’s certainly not always good, but in most cases my clients have had great experiences. Lots of tears shed, a sense of relief knowing their story and connecting dots. It’s what drives me to keep going. There are literally millions of people who have found out that one or both of their parents are not their actual birth parent. Many find out much later in life and are devastated. It’s a LOT! With the introduction of DNA testing, it’s a game changer. Now the truth can be found. I only trust the DNA. All my clients are now family to me. Their stories are a permanent part of my life. I consider each one of them important and delicate.

If you want help finding your family, please reach out. I would love to help!
